This research study is one of a series of studies sponsored by the Aga Khan Foundation and the MasterCard Foundation to examine how SGs are used as platforms for development activities and how linkages to other services take place. It considers how financial services combined with other development activities add value for individuals, groups, and the community. The initiative also explores the sustainability and reliability of SGs, thus examining long term access to financial services for the poor.
