Visa Information

A visa and other requirements may be necessary for entry into South Africa. Please read the guidelines below for entry into South Africa- and click here to see which countries are currently exempt from visas for South Africa. As the requirements differ from country to country and are subject to change without notice, we recommend contacting the South African Embassy in your country for specific and updated information. 

Note: SG2020: The Future of Savings Groups has been registered with the department of Home Affairs South Africa and South African Missions abroad have been informed to issue visas to delegates attending the event, provided a letter of invitation and other visa requirements are submitted. 

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: Below is the list of items necessary at your port of entry.

  1. A passport or travel document valid 30 days after the end of your intended visit.                                                                              2. Your passport must have at least one blank page                                                                                                                                    3. Visa (if applicable)                                                                                                                        


The following countries must have a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days prior to their departure for South Africa:

Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equitorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Southern Sudan, Suda, Togo, Uganda

Latin America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guyana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela

Proof of financial means sufficient to cover the costs of your stay in South Africa may be requested at the port of entry. 

A return or onward ticket.

Below is the list of items necessary at to apply for a tourist visa.

  1. A passport or travel document valid 30 days after the end of your intended visit.                                                                              2. Your passport must have at least one blank page.                                                                                                                                  3. A completed BI-84 (application for visa).                                                                                                                                                  4. Fee payment (check with your embassy or consulate).                                                                                                                            5. Statement and/or documentation confirming the purpose and duration of the visit.                                                                          6. Two color passport photos.                                                                                                                                                                        7. A return or onward ticket.                                                                                                                                                                          8. A yellow fever vaccination certificate.
